The award is well earned and so deserved. This is the criteria to be the Family Psychologist of the Year:

Sue’s contribution to the field has been sustained and outstanding. She first published her dissertation research on Emotionally Focused Therapy in 1988 and has been going strong adding more research, books, training, presenting, board leadership and service, organizational development and being on the leading edge of all things couple and family therapy

I’ve had the good fortune to learn Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) from Sue and now have worked alongside her, or on her team in a variety of ways nearing 15 years.

It’s an honor to be a Certified Trainer, Supervisor and Therapist of EFT and represent the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) as I travel the world helping marriage and family therapists learn amazing couple therapy.

I first learned about Sue from Dr. John Gottman in the late 1990’s. He shared her amazing research and fantastic results with couples. Her model of couple therapy continues to have amazing results and more and more research publications – so many that Emotionally Focused Therapy meets the highest of standards for effectiveness.

EFT provides a map and method for helping couples improve their relationships and live in love, ICEEFT provides a way to learn, a couple therapy community and collegial support to learn with.

If you are interested in learning more about EFT, getting support or supervision while you learn or contributing to the mission of helping couples and families through workshops or supporting events, you’re in the right place. Let me know how we can work together.

And big kudo’s and thanks to Dr. Sue Johnson for her leadership, mentoring and friendship.

Hope to see you in D.C. and the Creating Connections conference too.
