About Dr. Jorgensen

Thanks for visiting this page to learn more about me.

This page has a brief summary of professional journey and a list of my educational degrees, licenses and certificates.

There’s some photos of me on the training pages.

Mostly these days I’m teaching and consulting with other therapists on attachment and how to do Emotionally Focused Therapy around the world and online, and working with couples in prevention and coaching groups. I do still keep a limited professional practice. I have always been a therapist and an educator. I love working right in the process with couples who are in distress. I continue to explore a variety of ways to help the information about attachment and the Science of Love reach as many couples as possible. To see what else I’m up to visit these other websites: Living In Love, San Diego Center for EFT, or TRI EFT Alliant.

If you want to see me for therapy –

I live and practice in Mexico. I do some internet based therapy with couples who live outside of Mexico and if I have an opening in my practice. If you’re not conveniently located to where I live I’ll happily refer you to another excellently trained couple practitioner.

I frequently do intensive consultation work with couples in coastal Baja California or at their location. You can fly me in and I can work with you to get you started in the change process and consult with a local therapist on how to help you continue until your relationship is healthy and strong.

Additionally, I am associated with the Alliant Couple and Family Clinic in San Diego and I can make solid referral to the clinic.

Because I am associated with TRI EFT Alliant, the San Diego Center for EFT and the Alliant Couple and Family Clinic – all based in California it’s important for me to inform you that, despite my years of being a licensed therapist in other states, and a highly qualified couples therapist via advanced education and training, I am not licensed in California. Rather I practice as a MFT-Intern in California under the supervision of Scott R. Woolley. MFT Intern #59560.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in WA – LH00005813

I know there are lots of choices of therapists and consultants to choose from. If your relationship is in need of a therapist, and you have some schedule flexibility and want to work with someone who has some of the best training and experience possible, I hope you’ll give my office a call. I make hundreds of referrals a year and know therapists around the world who have excellent training and successful experience treating couples. If I can’t see you, I will try to connect you with another outstanding practitioner.

About Rebecca Jorgensen, Ph.D. “Becca” began clinical practice during her first undergraduate practicum course in 1989, where, initially working with children, she quickly realized that working with parents created more change, safety and help for these children.

Her interest in relationships and families grew and her first postgraduate in-depth couple training was with John Gottman and his “Scientifically Based Marital Therapy,” where she was introduced to the phenomenal work of Dr. Susan Johnson and her model of couple’s therapy.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) revolutionized Becca’s work with couples, dramatically reducing their divorce rate. She completed advanced training with Dr. Johnson and became certified as an EFT Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer. With years of experience as an EFT trainer, Becca is one of the handful of endorsed trainers in the U.S. on Dr. Johnson’s team that trains internationally.

Becca is devoted to strengthening families through helping couples develop safe and secure marital bonds and helping other therapists learn more effective couple’s therapy. In addition to training therapists in Emotionally Focused Therapy throughout North America, New Zealand and parts of Europe she also specializes in distance and online education. She has taught Psychology, Family Life Courses and Counselor Education for many years.

Becca is a member of the American Counseling Association, holds a Faculty position at Alliant International University and is Director of the San Diego Center for EFT and the Training and Research Institute for EFT at Alliant.

She continues to maintain a clinical practice in conjunction with her passion for advancing education and training in Emotionally Focused Therapy. She has a published training video: Emotionally Focused Therapy: A Complete Treatment endorsed by Dr. Sue Johnson and available for purchase by clicking here.
